Critiques
But as another critic stated, the shading could use a little work, as does the background. Simply stamping some Photoshop brushes around does not make a very good background. Try playing around with colors and brushes or better yet, exercise complex backgrounds, which can be done by staring at a photo.
The shading needs to be smoother, and more gradient. I see only two tones of colors, which can lead into a 'shallow' illusion of color. What I mean is, the object or person looks 2 dimensional. Try playing around with black and white as shading and light with lowered opacity.
The line art is a tad rough, try working at a very large canvas size and keep it neat with the eraser tool. Then shrink it down and it will look neat. <3
I hope I have helped.
The drawing is good, and is executed well with a simple yet effective background. The linework is good but the lines themselves need to be smoother. They seem somewhat pixellated, as if the image had been resized.
The shading is very simple also, the picture is block coloured with a highlight tone and a shadow tone for each shade with minimal blending (with the eye as an exception). It does work as a whole, but it makes the picture seem more like an embossment as opposed to an actual 3D object.
I'd suggest a wider variety of tones with smooth blending, and don't be scared to extend the shading further inwards than the edges of the area you're adding shading to. It's a way of building texture without the use of lines.
I also think the light source is a little confused. Here's a simple tutorial on light sources, shadows, and a little about backlighting: [link]
Overall it is a nice piece, well done. I hope you find this critique useful in your improvement.
